Laglio è un comune che si pone a mezza via tra il primo ed il secondo bacino del lago di Como. Il suo borgo è di origine romana, il nome stesso di Laglio deriva dal nome del comandante Romano Lallius. I pendii che sovrastano il centro abitato sono ricchi di vigne, uliveti e di piante di lauro e la sua natura così varia e lussureggiante attrae molti visitatori da tutto il mondo tra i quali spicca sicuramente il nome di George Clooney che qui ha acquistato la famosa Villa Oleandra, prestigiosa dimora storica, nonché emblema del paese.
Un altro simbolo di Laglio è il Buco dell’orso, una grotta naturale che custodisce al suo interno ossa pietrificate di orsi e altri animali oggi estinti. Le pareti ricoperte da stalattiti, il ruscello che scorre al suo interno e il suggestivo paesaggio naturale la rendono una delle grotte più belle del territorio.
Una particolarità di questo borgo è sicuramente la “Piramide di Laglio”, un monumento funebre voluto da Giuseppe Franck (XIX sec). Con i suoi 20 metri di altezza spicca in tutto il cimitero comunale di Laglio, luogo nel quale è ubicata, e intende omaggiare il medico degli Asburgo che fu molto legato a questo borgo.

Laglio is a municipality on the west coast of Lake Como. This village has origins in the Roman Age, even the name comes from the name of Romano Lallius, a commandant of that time. The mounts all around the village are full of vineyards and olive groves and thanks to this lush vegetation lots of tourists are intrigued about this place. One of them is George Clooney who bought the historical villa Oleandra, an important landmark for this territory.
Another symbol of Laglio is the “Buco dell’orso”, a natural cave that keeps petrified bones of extinct animals. The walls are covered in stalactites and the floor is carved by a little stream that flows inside: for this reasons it’s considered one of the most beautiful caves of  the Lake.
Laglio as another special feature: a 20-meters high pyramid located in the municipal cemetery. It is a funerary monument and it was built by the will of Giuseppe Franck (XIX century), who was deeply attached to this village.
